Meet Our Doctors

Timothy Whaley, DDS

Dr. Whaley has been practicing in Ellenton since 2016. He enjoys the friendly and relaxed patient population that Ellenton provides. Dr. Whaley is always looking for the best technology and procedures to deliver exceptional care for his patients. The world is becoming digital, and dentistry is no exception. His favorite "toy" is an in-house digital scanner. This tool fabricates a 3D model of the mouth, which eliminates the need for impressions. Dr. Whaley has a "patient first" philosophy. He wants every patient to be as comfortable and informed as possible throughout their entire experience. He believes that a dentist should make you smile, not cry.

Dr. Whaley studied biology at the University of Miami, then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland. Although his family lives in the mid-Atlantic area, he is proud to call Florida home. He lives in Sarasota with his husband, who is also a dentist. Outside of the office, Dr. Whaley loves the great outdoors of Florida. He enjoys a leisurely bike ride or walk around the waterfront. In the warmer months he enjoys swimming and kayaking. He also has a green thumb. With over 50 houseplants, his collection of cacti and orchids is impressive. His pets include dogs, a cockatoo, and even a jellyfish tank. He has the talent of keeping anything alive.

Simone Wasef, DMD

Dr. Wasef believes that dentistry is an art, and she loves the impact it has on people’s lives. She studied at the Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine. She moved back to the West coast of Florida to be closer to her hometown, Clearwater, Florida. When she is not in the office caring for patients, she enjoys running and biking outdoors, working out, going to the beach, and traveling with her husband to learn about different cultures.

Bart Lakomy, DDS

Dr. Lakomy was born in Poland, and he grew up just outside of Chicago, IL. He later attended the University of Iowa, graduating with a BS in Human Physiology. Dr. Lakomy went on to attend New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. He practiced outside Chicago before giving up the snowy winters for the sunshine of Florida. On most evenings, he can be found running or biking along trails. Dr. Lakomy and his wife enjoy spending time outdoors with their Labrador going on walks and hikes. Despite their busy lives, they maintain their tradition of trying a new restaurant or coffee shop around the community every week. Dr. Lakomy has long been an advocate of prioritizing preventative dental care. He often speaks to patients about being proactive with their oral health versus being reactive. “Proper maintenance is important for health and proper function.”
